Seahawks WATCH: QB Pete Carroll Coming for Geno Smith's Job?!

In hilarious and endearing fashion, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll showed why he's beloved as a leader during Thursday's training camp practice.

Despite being the oldest head coach in the NFL, 71-year-old Pete Carroll has maintained his reputation as being one of the most lively and energetic coaches in the NFL throughout his time with the Seattle Seahawks.

All that's next for him to do is put on some pads and a helmet himself, right? That joke might not be too far off for Carroll's standards.

Despite Geno Smith's brand new contract, Carroll has apparently entered himself into a sudden quarterback competition for the Seahawks. During the team's training camp practice on Thursday, Carroll took his turn at slinging the rock, showing off his scramble ability, quick release, and Patrick Mahomes-like sidearm.

The Seahawks revealed an epic and totally-not-edited montage of Carroll hitting on deep shots to the likes of DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Take a look:

"That's Pete. That's Pete, man," Smith said. "He's the ageless wonder. He's one of those guys that when you look at him, he motivates you every single day."

While it seems unlikely that Carroll is making a sudden change to quarterback, the beginning of the video shows that he's definitely got a solid arm. Jokes aside, it's rare to see an NFL head coach, let alone one Carroll's age, to be this physically engaged and active during practice, especially considering he's inserting himself into the drills.

Stuff like this is why the Seahawks have established one of the best cultures in the NFL, and why Carroll is one of the most well respected figures in the league.

He'll look to snag another preseason win on Saturday when the Seahawks welcome the Dallas Cowboys to Lumen Field.
