Seahawks Re-Sign CB Artie Burns in Free Agency
The Seattle Seahawks have already made some big changes in the secondary this offseason with the release of Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams, but the team is retaining a notable face for the first season under coach Mike Macdonald.
Per reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks are re-signing cornerback Artie Burns to a one-year deal.
"Free-agent cornerback Artie Burns is returning to the Seahawks on a one-year deal," Schefter tweeted.
Burns, 28, was originally a first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Pittsburgh before joining the Chicago Bears in 2021. Burns then signed a one-year deal with Seattle in March 2022 and then again the following year, but was released prior to the start of the 2023 season.
However, the Seahawks immediately brought him back to the practice squad before signing him to the active roster this past September. He appeared in 13 games this past season, posting 23 total tackles and two passes defended.
