Seahawks Coach Sean Desai Requested for Interview by Super Bowl Contender
Less than a week after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles have requested permission to interview Seattle Seahawks associate head coach and defensive assistant Sean Desai to fill their vacancy at defensive coordinator, per reports Friday from NFL on CBS.
The Eagles just lost defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who will now be facing the Seahawks twice a year as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. As for Desai, he now has a chance to get hired into a role once filled by Gannon that likely gives him the best shot of winning a ring.
Desai recently withdrew his name from consideration for the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator job to focus on landing the same title with the Denver Broncos. However, that race has been a slow one, as Desai finds himself competing with a flurry of other names.
Should he land the Philly job, Desai could potentially lead an elite Eagles defense that was the runaway leader in sacks (70) this past season while also finishing with the third-best turnover differential and allowed the second-fewest yards per game (301.5).
