Seahawks Pick Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders in 2024 Mock Draft

Should the Seattle Seahawks begin preparing for life after Geno Smith once this season is over?
In this story:

The NFL is a cruel business motivated by moves that will make teams money and help them win football games.

While that may seem obvious, there is a human element that is often overlooked as we often see in NFL mock drafts. CBS Sports recently released a mock draft, and similar to a previous edition that had them drafting Geno Smith's replacement in Michigan's JJ McCarthy, their latest update has them drafting a quarterback that's unique for a variety of reasons.

CBS Sports' latest mock draft has the Seahawks selecting college football star and current Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the No. 16 overall pick.

The son of NFL legend and Colorado coach Deion Sanders, it's unclear as of now if Shedeur will even declare for the draft or if the Seahawks will be ready to give Smith a new backup.

Regardless, he's the fourth quarterback off the board in this particular mock draft, going after USC's Caleb Williams (No. 1, Arizona Cardinals), Michigan's J.J. McCarthy (No. 10, New York Giants) and North Carolina's Drake Maye (No. 12, Minnesota Vikings).

Sanders and the Buffs got hit with a major gut punch on Saturday, as No. 19 Colorado suffered its first loss of the season in a 42-6 blowout finish against No. 10 Oregon.

However, Sanders has proven that he has a future in the NFL, even though he'll have to prove himself further in order to end up as a first-round pick.

Through four games this season, Sanders has gone 130 of 169 passing for 1,410 yards, 11 touchdowns and just one interception.
