Seahawks vs. Titans Preview: Can Seattle Keep Its Season Alive?

The return of quarterback Geno Smith comes at just the right time for the Seattle Seahawks as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive for another week.

Fresh off a potentially season-saving win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, the Seattle Seahawks still have their backs against the wall as they travel east to face the Tennessee Titans

Despite the 20-17 come-from-behind victory over the Eagles that ended a four-game losing streak, the Seahawks still find themselves behind the eight-ball in the NFC West.

Currently, Seattle sits third in the division behind the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, both of whom hold the head-to-head tiebreakers over the Seahawks. This means not only do the Seahawks need to win out, but they need the Rams to lose out to give them their best chance of making the postseason.

However, the Seahawks can only control what they can do on Sunday, starting with a Titans team enduring a disappointing season. At 5-9 on the year and two straight overtime losses, the Titans were officially eliminated from playoff contention in last week's 19-16 loss to the Houston Texans.

Even without their standout rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Texans found a way to beat the Titans, who even claimed an early 13-0 lead in the second quarter. However, that lead evaporated over the final three quarters, as the Texans scored 13 points in the second half to force overtime, where, despite the Titans having two possessions, had both drives turn into punts before Houston hit their game-winning field goal.

While the Seahawks will most likely want to avoid another drama-filled fourth quarter, they will hope to make it two wins in a row. While it's easier said than done, the return of quarterback Geno Smith will be good news for the Seahawks if they want to secure the win.
