Seahawks Trade Rumors: 3 Picks for Pass-Rush Pair?

The Seattle Seahawks are in need of some pass rushers. Could they draft some rookies or trade for some established veterans?
In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks are looking to boost their pass rush in this month's NFL Draft.

With two first-round picks, it would be a surprise to nobody if at least one of those selections didn't come on the defensive line.

But Bleacher Report is offering a different solution, one that could net the Seahawks two experienced pass rushers instead of rookie gambles.

In a proposed blockbuster, the Seahawks would trade a first-, second- and third-round pick to the Washington Commanders for former No. 2 overall pick Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

"The defensive line has some glaring holes heading into the 2023 draft," BR writes. "While Seattle could use one or even both of its two first-round picks to shore that area up, it could also swing for the fences by acquiring proven talent instead ... Trading for Sweat and Young would vastly bolster Seattle's defense and make it a true force on that side of the ball in 2023."

Both players are talented, but come with risks.

"With Young limited to only 12 games since his standout rookie season in 2020, his value is a bit murky," Bleacher Report writes. "He showed immense promise after being drafted No. 2 overall, racking up 7.5 sacks in his first 15 games, but he tallied only 1.5 sacks across nine contests in 2021 before suffering an ACL tear and a ruptured patellar tendon. Young played only three games this past season, finishing with five total tackles, one pass deflection and one quarterback hit."

Sweat showcased why he was one of the more underrated pass rushers in 2022, recording eight sacks, but he is in a contract year and the former first-round pick is looking for his first major NFL paycheck ... one the Commanders may not want to pay.

It's hard to imagine a trade of this magnitude going down, but this exercise proves that the Seahawks have picks to make a deal like this work ... they just have to be smart about it.
