Seattle Seahawks vs. Bengals: DK Metcalf's Bold Devon Witherspoon Prediction for Ja'Marr Chase
In this story:

It is all being stated in such a polite and gentlemanly manner that it cannot really be labeled as "trash talk.''

But it is being stated, by Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf on behalf of his new teammate, rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon.

Ja'Marr Chase, Metcalf said ahead of Week 6's Seahawks vs. Cincinnati Bengals matchup, "is just a great receiver. I tip my hat off to him with what he's done in the first three years of the league. It'll be fun to watch on Sunday, but I think Spoon will get the best of him.''

OK. We can say this: The first-round pick Witherspoon has in this start to his career been up to most tall tasks ... and this one ranks right up there. Last week, Chase helped Cincy move to 2-3 as he roasted the Arizona Cardinals for 15 catches, 192 yards, and three touchdowns. Chase averaging 87.6 receiving yards per game during his career, so while 15 catches is an outlier, consistent production is not.

Meanwhile, for the 3-1 Seahawks, Witherspoon has created a highlight reel for himself, topped when he recorded two sacks and returned an interception for a 97-yard touchdown in Seattle's Week 4 win over the New York Giants. Per Pro Football Focus, Witherspoon has allowed just one reception on 10 targets when in single coverage.

Meanwhile, as long as we're being gentlemanly about all these, let's check in with Chase.

"(Meltcalf) ain't doing nothing but just praising his teammate, though. That's what he's supposed to do," Chase said. "At the end of the day, it's about game-time reps and game-time decisions. He's going to get the opportunity to get his matchup, and we'll see who wins that matchup."
