Seahawks vs. Steelers Week 17: How to Watch, Betting Odds
Seattle coach Pete Carroll and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin are two of the top coaches in the league. They're also two of the longest-tenured. But despite their longevity, they've met just four times prior to Sunday's matchup in the penultimate week of the regular season.
Carroll ranks No. 13 on the all-time wins list with 180. Tomlin is nipping at his heels with 179. And even though they've rarely met on the field, there's a ton of admiration between the two.
“He’s a really good man,” Carroll said. “They’ve had the good fortune of having him for years; 16 years and never had a losing season. That’s a pretty good mark, that’s hard to get that done. I have the ultimate respect for him.”
The Seahawks need to win out against the Steelers and Cardinals to make their 11th postseason appearance in 14 seasons under Carroll. Pittsburgh's path to the playoffs isn't quite that simple.
Winning out would still require some help for the Steelers, but even a loss to Seattle won't eliminate them depending on how the rest of the AFC pans out.
For Pittsburgh, backup quarterback Mason Rudolph could see his second straight start as Kenny Pickett is labeled as questionable for Sunday. Even if Pickett can go but isn't 100 percent, Tomlin could stick with Rudolph, who is the "hot hand" under center right now.

“Performing (in practice) and performing in stadiums are two different things,” Tomlin said. “And so, it was good to see it show up in the stadium, but I don’t think any of us were shocked by it. We’ve all seen it in stadiums with him before.”
