Why Do NFL Men 'Hate' Taylor Swift? Seahawks Fan Mina Kimes Explains
"Hate'' is a strong word, and our ESPN friend Mina Kimes, well-known for her expertise and her Seattle Seahawks fandom - is too smart to use it.
But when we reflect on her remarks about why some NFL fans, mostly men, seem so angry at the sight of Taylor Swift on their TV screens - a phenomenon that is about to explode exponentially now that "her'' Kansas City Chiefs are in the Super Bowl?
Kimes politely uses words like "annoyed'' and "upset.'' And she gets her point across.
"For me, a lot of the misogyny or resistance that I've encountered over the years has been men feeling suspicious of 'Why is she here? What credibility does she have? I must know more, etc.' I think with the Taylor Swift backlash ... the impression I get is that people are annoyed with other fans being allowed into their space.''
In other words, Kimes said while appearing on "Pablo Torre Finds Out with Dan Le Batard,'' it's not about Swift being on TV. It's about Swift being seen by "misogynists'' as an interloper into a male domain.
"I don't think men who watch other football games are annoyed that they show Taylor Swift for two seconds. I think they're upset with what it signifies... or the product is being diluted in some way. I think it's a different phenomenon," Kimes said.

The pop-icon Swift is of course dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and her presence on NFL television has become a drawing card for the league and the network and advertisers. Next Sunday when the Chiefs play the 49ers, she will be everywhere. And the "haters'' are going to have to get used to it.
