NFL analyst lists Seahawks among teams who could draft QB in Round 1

The Seattle Seahawks may be getting sick of answering questions about quarterback Geno Smith's future but until an extension is reached, the speculation will continue.
On Wednesday, Seahawks general manager John Schneider said the team is working on getting a deal done with Smith. Even if Seattle extends the 34-year-old quarterback, drafting his successor should still be on the table.
NFL.com writer Eric Edholm listed the Seahawks among the teams who could potentially draft a quarterback in the first round.
"Geno turns 35 in October, however, and he's entering the final year of his deal," wrote Edholm. "Sam Howell can't yet be considered his sure-fire replacement, so the long-term need is there. But when the question turns to how likely a first-round QB might be, the chances feel low."
The Seahawks hold the 18th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, which isn't an ideal spot to land a quarterback. Trading up is one potential option, but it's tough to envision the team giving up assets when the QB class is considered mediocre.
The top two signal-callers -- Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders -- should be long gone by the time Seattle is on the clock. Other potential options include Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel.
