Reality has set in for the Seattle Seahawks and their fans over the last few months. Pete Carroll is gone after 14 memorable seasons with the team, and a new era has already gotten underway with head coach Mike Macdonald.

Earlier this week, Seahawks players spoke to the media for the first time this offseason, and guys like QB Geno Smith shared some heartfelt words when asked about Carroll's departure.

But it wasn't all warm and fuzzy ... at least it didn't appear that way.

Whether the delivery was intentional or not, Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu appeared to throw a slight jab at the previous coaching staff when asked about the upcoming season, saying that "now" the Seahawks have the right coaches, implying that they didn't have it last year.

“I expect a good playoff run … We’ve got all the players," Nwosu said. "I feel like we’ve got the right coaches now. These coaches seem committed. They are really putting in the time and effort so far.”

Carroll wasn't the only goodbye the Seahawks had to make this offseason. His departure led to defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt (Eagles) and Shane Waldron (Bears) both finding new homes. It's anyone's guess if Nwosu's comments were actually at directed at the previous staff, but the word choice certainly raises some eyebrows.

Either way, what's done is done. The Seahawks signed Nwosu to a three-year, $45 million contract extension last offseason. He played in six games this past season before a pectoral injury knocked him out for the year. The former USC Trojan finished with 16 total tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.

Nwosu is a vital piece of Seattle's future and will undoubtedly be key to the success of Macdonald's defense in Year 1.
