PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers may not be as in on Brandon Aiyuk as they once were, and as more time passes, it's reported their interest in making a blockbuster move at wide receiver as "quieted."

Still, Aiyuk remains an option. But the San Francisco 49ers are consistent that they're working out a deal. Aiyuk has heard the noise from his current team, and also the rumors surrounding him being dealt to the Steelers this offseason. He addressed both on the NightCap Show with Shannon Sharpe, saying he's just trying to get what he feels he deserves.

"I’m trying to get what I deserve. I felt like this season, playing football, I figured out who I was as a person, as a player, what I bring to the table, what I bring to a locker room, what I bring to an organization and just the value I hold when I walk into that building because people are gonna follow me because I’ve done it the right way since I’ve been in that building," Aiyuk said. "From the first day I walked in there, to when I was in there early this morning, I’ve done it the right way… Like I said, I can’t get into it, we got professionals working on both sides, so hopefully we can come to a professional agreement."

Aiyuk, 26, is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He's entering the final year of his contract and set to make $14 million in 2024.

The Steelers currently have a star in George Pickens and a few backups in Calvin Austin, Quez Watkins, Van Jefferson and Cordarrelle Patterson. Still, they need to add another starter. Every option is still on the table, including a trade for the 49ers Pro Bowler, but as time passes, those expectations fade.

The NFL Draft is likely their best route to acquire a starter without paying more than they could afford. But if something changes and a trade presents itself, this team has not held back from making moves to improve their roster.
