3 Steelers fantasy must-haves and where to find them

The third Preseason game of the 2019 NFL season left us with clarity on who you want to add a Pittsburgh Steeler to your fantasy football roster. Leaving these three as your must-haves.

James Conner

James Conner will lead the NFL in rushing this season. It's not even that bold to say. The third-year running back looks better than ever and has a backfield to work with when he's tired.

If you missed his performance in Week 3, he showed us he's plenty quick on his feet, and is going to make a lot of defenders miss this season.

While fantasy owners are trying to decide between Saquon and Kamara, sit back and watch for Conner. Not many people see it coming, but he'll be your best fantasy player by the end of the season.

Where to grab him:

Honestly, James Conner is one of three players I'm considering with the first pick. He has all the value of any quality runner - he should average 15-plus points per week, and has the backups to keep him fresh.

Take a risk on Conner. You won't regret it.

Vance McDonald

There aren't many quality fantasy tight ends in the NFL, and with Gronk gone they're only getting slimmer. Vance McDonald may not have the resume to prove he's worth a pick, but 2019 will prove different.

He's shown the consistency and chemistry with Ben to finally have a breakout season. Looking through your list of fantasy options at tight end, McDonald is someone you don't want to pass up on for no reason.

A reliable 8-12 points is all you can look for in a tight end anymore. McDonald should be pretty close each week. Once he starts seeing more red zone play with Jessie James gone, those numbers should begin to appear each week.

Where to grab him:

Do not, I repeat, do not take a "chance" on any tight end in fantasy football. Kickers will win you games; tight ends will not. There may be 10 people in your league and only eight quality tight ends, but it's okay to sit on one until the middle-to-end of the draft.

McDonald will be there in the 12th round. After round ten you can begin to think about your options. At that time, McDonald is a quality choice.,

He's going to make noise this season, but there's no rush on picking him up too early.

JuJu Smith-Schuster

Before kickoff of the third Preseason game, I have to admit I was skeptical of JuJu Smith-Schuster this season. Within two drives and a touchdown catch, that skepticism was gone.

Smith-Schuster is going to have a breakout year. The new number one with something to prove, and the drive that people have seen since... Antonio Brown.

He's going to be the best receiver in one of the league's most eye-catching groups. Donta Moncreif and James Washington remove thee double-team, and Diontae Johnson adds to the fact that the Steelers have too many weapons to solely focus on one.

He'll dominate normal coverage and be the first choice Ben goes to when in trouble. JuJu is a player you're thinking about the entire draft.

When to grab him:

The second-round. This isn't a question - in any league worth mentioning, someone is yelling at the computer because JuJu goes off the board right before their second-round pick.

Don't sit on him. Don't reach, unless you're in the end of the first with nothing better, but if you have the opportunity, JuJu Smith-Schuster is a solid second-round selection.
