Mason Rudolph has all eyes on his preseason start for Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh finds themselves in an unfamiliar situation, having a future Hall of Famer teaching two possible starters over the next two seasons. While Josh Dobbs earned the backup role in 2018, this season is a different story.
Rudolph has come into the summer hot. He's more accurate, has better chemistry, and seems to be a lot more confident in himself and his teammates. After Dobbs started the first two preseason games for the Steelers, the team has decided Rudolph has earned his shot in Week 2.
Leaving all eyes on the quarterback. The former Oklahoma State stud may have only been a third-round pick, but his potential sat him in the opening round for many draft experts. His slide to Pittsburgh wasn't expected, but the franchise is certainly accepting of bringing a first-round talent to their future quarterback competition.
This weekend will be the first time this year the coaches and fans will be allowed to see Rudolph compete with many of the preseason stars. His connection with James Washington should be on display, but his command of the offense will be the biggest determining factor in the outlook on his performance.
If he comes in ready to win, he could earn himself a lead in the backup competition. Leaving the QB the must watch of Week 2.
