What's next for the Pittsburgh Steelers this Preseason?
Next up is a number of things - starting with how important Jaylen Samuels is to the offensive gameplan. Through two games, this running back has earned his place in the offense. The Steelers don't want to hand James Conner the ball 400 times, and they won't need to with Samuels.
Week 3 is where Mike Tomlin and Randy Fitchner find his place in this scheme. Which could mean fans see plenty of catches out of the backfield this season.
James Washington and Diontae Johnson both need to find their place as well. The Steelers are going to have possibly seven wide receivers to fill in this year. Washington is going to be the number three, Johnson likely number four. But Ryan Switzer and Eli Rogers aren't nobodies.
It'll be interesting to see how all of them begin to sculpt the roles in Week 3.
On defense, we need to continue to see the spark. This unit looks to have some fire behind them, and with roles being filled this offseason, they have the potential to begin shaping up to be something special.
It's not a, "he needs to play well, he needs to continue playing well." It's a unit proving week after week they're ready to compete.
