PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers' biggest competitors in the AFC North have named a new starting quarterback following a major win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced following the 31-27 victory over Jacksonville that Joe Flacco would be the starting quarterback moving forward and he'll lead them in a tight race with the Steelers for an AFC Wild Card spot down the home stretch of the regular season.

38-year-old Flacco joined the Browns last month after it was announced that Deshaun Watson had suffered a season-ending injury. He started on the practice squad and was named the starter two weeks later. In his first game action in over a year, Flacco threw for 254 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Flacco and the Browns bounced back this week. He threw for 311 yards, three touchdowns and an interception against the Jaguars this week in a game Cleveland won 31-27.

The Browns now hold the fifth seed in the AFC Playoff picture, one spot ahead of the sixth-place Steelers. These two AFC North rivals tied the season series at 1-1.
