PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is headed west, signing with the Los Angeles Rams, according to The Score's Jordan Schultz.

Witherspoon, 28, played 13 games for the Steelers, recording 35 tackles and four interceptions. He has 40 starts and eight interceptions under his belt heading into the 2023 season.

The Steelers traded with the San Francisco 49ers for Witherspoon during the 2021 season and expected him to be their top cornerback in 2022. After a lingering hamstring injury sidelined him for most of the season, his time with the teams came to a close with one season left on his contract.

With the additions of Joey Porter Jr., Cory Trice in the NFL Draft, and the signing of veteran Patrick Peterson, Pittsburgh released Witherspoon ahead of OTAs. He'll now compete with Cobie Durant and Derion Kendricks for a starting job in Los Angeles.
