Mason Rudolph: "I’m more to blame than anyone"

The Pittsburgh Steelers fell to 0-3 behind Mason Rudolph, after losing to 24-20 to San Francisco.

After a disappointing third loss of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for answers to their early struggles. Both sides of the football seemed to tell two stories. After leading 6-3 at half, forcing five turnovers and holding a late fourth-quarter lead, many can't seem to find an exact reason why this team fell short again.

To Mason Rudolph, his first loss as a starting quarterback was on himself. "We just came out slow,” Rudolph said. “I’m more to blame than anyone."

The offensive struggles started early. Despite five defensive turnovers, Pittsburgh's offense failed to find the endzone until the second half. "I told Cam [Heyward] that. That game’s on us. We had so many opportunities, with the turnovers in the first half and the momentum swing with the defense. We’ve got to put more points on the board for you guys."

Rudolph went 14-27 for 174 yards an interception and two second half touchdowns. The first-time starter led the Steelers back to a 20-17 fourth quarter lead.

The young quarterback will continue to grow during his time as the starter. With the Steelers dropping to 0-3, they'll likely try to make adjustments to see more success this season.
