Vikings Sign Former Steelers QB Tanner Morgan
PITTSBURGH -- The Minnesota Vikings are adding another former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, signing rookie Tanner Morgan to their practice squad, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Morgan spent the summer with the Steelers are signing as an undrafted free agent in the spring. He worked behind Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph, taking limited reps at training camp. He eventually got to showcase his skills during the preseason, which were enough to land him on the map with the Vikings.
With Kirk Cousins on Injured Reserve, the Vikings are riding with former Steelers fourth-round pick Josh Dobbs as their starter. Dobbs entered the game only days after being acquired at the trade deadline because rookie Jaren Hall went down with a concussion. He eventually led them to a win over the Falcons.
Morgan joins a quarterback room that currently consists of Dobbs, Hall, Sean Mannion and himself. The former Minnesota Gopher will look to impress with his in-state NFL team.
