Patrick Peterson Tells Steelers Who He Wants Them to Draft

Patrick Peterson has some advice for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL Draft.

PITTSBURGH -- Omar Khan is working through his first NFL Draft season as the Pittsburgh Steelers general manager, but his newest star has some advice on who he should select in the first round.

During an appearance on NFL Network, newly-signed cornerback Patrick Peterson had a name ready to go when asked who he wants his team to draft.

"I’ll go with Dawand Jones. A 6-(foot)-8 prospect at 362 pounds. This guy played in the Big Ten against great competition. So he’s a proven talent," Peterson said.

Jones has had the interest of the Steelers throughout the draft process, meeting with him at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine, attending his Pro Day, and inviting him in for a pre-draft visit. They also took him and other Ohio State linemen out to dinner.

At the same time, reports have come out saying the Steelers are upset with Jones after he did not participate at his Pro Day. The report also claims Jones is sliding down draft boards.

Jones could be the Steelers' top offensive tackle option with their 32nd pick, but they've also shown interest in Tennessee's Darnell Wright, who should go right around the same time.

Paris Johnson Jr., Peter Skronoski and Broderick Jones have also been on their radar.
