Steelers Could Make 'Draft Movement' for ILB

A new outlook on the Pittsburgh Steelers draft plans could be coming.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have a few holes on defense they'll need to address this offseason, but one, in particular, seems to feel of high interest to one team insider.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler previewed the Steelers' offseason and said there could be "movement" for an inside linebacker coming from Pittsburgh.

"Losing inside linebackers Devin Bush and Robert Spillane leaves a void up the middle, and we should watch for draft movement there," Fowler wrote.

With Devin Bush being benched for Robert Spillane at the end of the season, it feels as if the former 10th-overall pick will continue his NFL career elsewhere. As for Spillane, he played 100% of the team's defensive snaps the final four weeks of the season and could be in the mix to return to the Steelers.

Still, Pittsburgh only has one solidified starter on the roster in Myles Jack, and with an $11 million cap hit this season, there are certainly questions about his future with the team.

In the NFL Draft, the Steelers could lean on their three picks in the top 50 to secure an inside linebacker. Oregon's Noah Sewell, Arkansas's Drew Sanders and Clemson's Trenton Simpson are currently expected to go in the first two rounds.

The Steelers will evaluate the draft as they do every year and determine which group of players they feel comfortable with at the 17th pick. When they are on the clock, they'll then look at that group and determine if there's enough comfort to move back with their first pick.

If all three of these names are on the board, it could be an easy call for the Steelers to wait it out for an inside linebacker.
