Steelers Expected to Make Another Splash Trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be shopping James Daniels.

PITTSBURGH -- Could the Pittsburgh Steelers be looking to trade star offensive lineman James Daniels before the season? According to The Athletic, a few executives across the league believe the offensive guard could be available.

The article highlights how Daniels is set to earn $8.25 million this season, but even after an impressive first year in Pittsburgh, the team has done a lot of homework on interior offensive linemen.

So far, they've added two guards in Isaac Seumalo and Nate Herbig, but have still continued to look at guard and center options early in the draft. Because some believe the Steelers are looking to start fresh, Daniels could be on the market.

"It seemed like they were just plugging holes cheap so they can draft the guys they want," another exec said, noting that the players Pittsburgh signed seemed to be one-for-one replacements for players they let go. "They have made no mistakes. They have been very safe, which is the M.O. of their franchise as a whole."

If Daniels is on the move, you'd have to expect the Steelers are looking to replace all five of their offensive linemen. Mason Cole is entering the final year of his contract and Dan Moore Jr. has not been a fan favorite through his first two seasons.

Even with their interest in interior offensive linemen, the Steelers really seemed to like Daniels last season. But if other teams believe he's available, some will at least give Pittsburgh a phone call about him.
