PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers fans got some good news ahead of a Thursday Night Football date with the New England Patriots at Acrisure Stadium.

After leaving last week's contest against the Arizona Cardinals early with a groin injury and not practicing fully all week, starting inside linebacker Elandon Roberts will play against the Patriots, according to a report from NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.

Roberts has played in 12 games this season and started 11, totaling 80 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a pass defended.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin credited Roberts with filling critical communication duties that the defense missed sorely when he left the game against the Cardinals.

The Steelers were already thin at inside linebacker with Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander already out for the remainder of the year with season-ending injuries and losing Roberts was a crushing blow that they weren't able to overcome in a 24-10 loss to Arizona.

They'll hope for a different result this time out against a two-win team with Roberts in the lineup.
