Report: Steelers Huge Fans of Bears QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers could have their sights set on a new quarterback.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the hunt for a quarterback this offseason and one that seems to be growing as they move closer to free agency and the NFL Draft. That name is Chicago Bears' Justin Fields, who many in the Steelers organization are reportedly fans of.

Joining the Yinz Know Ball Podcast, Pro Football Focus' Brad Spielberger says the Steelers have several members in their front office who are fans of the Bears quarterback.

This comes after ESPN's Adam Schefter said head coach Mike Tomlin is a "big fan" of Fields.

"I can also tell you, this is Super Bowl scuttlebutt, that there are some people in the front office that are also fans of Justin Fields," Spielberger said. "That’s what I’ve heard."

The Steelers are currently the odds-on favorites to land Fields this offseason, and the expectation they could make a move for him is growing rapidly. NFL insider Benjamin Allbright said earlier this week he expects Pittsburgh to be one of three teams to call Chicago and talk about a trade.

Fields is expected to go for either a first or second-round pick in the upcoming draft. The Steelers hold the 20th pick in the first round, which may be enough to land the 24-year-old quarterback.

Fields is entering his fifth-year option, leaving whoever acquires him with one season to decide if they'll ink him to a long-term deal.
