Former Steelers RB Returns for Cardinals

The former Pittsburgh Steelers running back is back on the field.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Connor is back at practice for the Arizona Cardinals, opening his 21-day return window to be activated from Injured Reserve.

Conner was placed on IR due to a knee injury he sustained in Week 5. Prior to his departure, he rushed for 364 yards and three touchdowns, and averaged 5.4 yards per carry - a top-five mark at the time of his injury.

The Cardinals aren't ruling out Conner is back on the field come game day in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said he hopes Conner is available "too," referring to Kylar Murray making his way back to the lineup this week as well.

Since leaving the Steelers, Conner has become a staple for the Cardinals running game. In 2022, he rushed for 782 yards and seven touchdowns, which followed a 15-touchdown season for Arizona the year prior.

With Murray and, hopefully, Conner back in the lineup, they'll look to begin turning their 1-7 season around.
