Steelers Set Shocking Record in Win Over Titans
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers offense hit yet another scary mark this week as they defeated the Tennessee Titans and improved to 5-3 on the year.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, the 2023 Steelers became just the 34th team in NFL history to be out-gained by each of their opponents in their first eight games of the season. However, they are just the first of those 34 teams to have a winning record in the process.
The Steelers nearly snapped that streak during their Week 9 win over the Titans. Tennessee out-gained Pittsburgh 340 to 326 yards, but did not surpass the Steelers until their final drive of the evening. A drive that ended with a Kwon Alexander interception to close out the game.
This season, the Steelers have been out-gained by 790 yards. Heading into Week 9, their yards per game (271.7) ranked 30th in the league, while their yards allowed (382.6) also ranked 30th.
With a 5-3 record, the Steelers won't stress too much about this new record, but will be looking to be on the winning side of the yards total moving forward as they near the playoffs.
