Steelers Dealing With Six Injuries in Week 2

The Pittsburgh Steelers are loaded with injuries to start Week 2.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers begin their Week 2 practices with six players missing time due to injuries.

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson (hamstring) and running back Anthony McFarland (knee) were the only players to miss practice, while offensive tackle Chuks Okorafor (concussion), guard James Daniels (ankle), defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (foot) and tight end Pat Freiermuth (chest) were limited.

McFarland came as a bit of a surprise after not being mentioned during head coach Mike Tomlin's press conference as a name to watch.

Johnson is expected to miss four weeks, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac. He was at practice during the team's viewing period and will likely remain a leader off the field while he recovers. As for how the Steelers will replace him, Calvin Austin, Gunner Olszewski and Miles Boykin will take on larger roles moving forward.

Daniels didn't leave the Steelers' Week 1 game but was seen in a walking boot earlier in the week. Washington also finished the game, and could be taking some precautions to assure he's 100% by the time Cleveland arrives.

Okorafor is currently in concussion protocol and will need to clear it before the game. If he doesn't, the Steelers will turn to Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr. at tackle, with Jones confirming he's been taking the practice reps at right tackle.

Ogunjobi has been dealing with a foot injury since training camp, but was active in Week 1 against the 49ers. Freiermuth was also expected to miss time early in the week due to a chest injury.
