Steelers Have Taken Over North Dakota
PITTSBURGH -- Is the most random thing you heard today that North Dakota loves the Pittsburgh Steelers? Now it probably is.
In Pro Football Reference's 2023 Year in Review, they do all sorts of random facts and statistics about the NFL and their 32 teams. The data is based on how different people from different places interact on their website, and what if found this year was the the Steelers have a lot of fans in a very unexpected place.
Releasing their map of the most searched team by each state, the Steelers do not appear in Pennsylvania or any of the surrounding states. Those are owned by the Philadelphia Eagles, who are searched the most by 10 of the 52 states across the USA.
Who looked up the Pittsburgh Steelers more than another team? North Dakota.
According to the Census, North Dakota had an estimated population of 779,261 people in July of 2022. With no football team of their own, that population is spending their time rooting for the Steelers.
The map showed that the Kansas City Chiefs own the USA this year, with 13 states viewing their team page the most. It's no surprise the Super Bowl champions led the league, with the runner-ups being second.
But as we close out the year, the one random fact you can take to your holiday parties is a good one - North Dakota loves the Steelers.
