Injury Report
Noah - The Steelers will have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Vance McDonald and Vince Williams for their Week 5 matchup with the Ravens. Baltimore's run game has been the focus of the Steelers' defense all week, and getting Williams back is a huge boost for Pittsburgh.
I didn't expect Smith-Schuster to miss any time, but he could be a step slower with the toe injury. James Conner will also be on the field this week, and for the first time, we'll see McDonald and Nick Vannett at tight end.
First Quarter
7:21 - Justin Tucker made 27-yard field goal
- Ravens 3 | Steelers 0
Noah - The Steelers' defense put a lot of pressure on Lamar Jackson, but will need to account for his ability to run moving forward. Devin Bush is all over Mark Ingram, but the defense as a whole will need to tighten up if they're going to hold the Ravens offense.
The offense doesn't look good. Their conservative offense did nothing on their first drive. The Steelers will need to take more chances against a strong Ravens' defense.
4:48 - Mark Ingram 4-yard rush
- Ravens 10 | Steelers 0
Noah - The offense isn't going to win this game through gimmicks. The wildcat should be put away immediately, and open up the passing game. Randy Fichtner needs to allow Mason Rudolph to take chances.
Five penalties is killing this defense. The Steelers need to play smarter, but also need to have some help from the offense. This could get bad quick if Rudolph and company don't start generating something.
2:41 - Mason Rudolph 35-yard pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster
- Ravens 10 | Steelers 7
Noah - Good things happen when you open up the passing game. Rudolph's 21-yard pass to James Washington made the defense take a step back, allowing James Conner to gain momentum. From there, the drive was in Pittsburgh's hands.
This offense will get better if they allow Rudolph to actually play. JuJu Smith-Schuster has been waiting for his quarterback to get a chance to play like this. If it continues, this game isn't over. That's a big if, though.
Second Quarter
11:21 - Lamar Jackson 11-yard pass to Marquise Brown
Noah - At what point do you take Mark Barron off the field? Time and time again you see him play one step behind. It's almost like he's jogging on the field when in coverage, and puts no effort into chasing down anyone with the ball.
The defense didn't look bad, but every time Lamar Jackson found his tight end, Barron allowed an easy catch. The drive should've been a lot shorter than it was, and the biggest thing to stand out was the inside linebacker.
4:43 - Chris Boswell made 41-yard field goal
Noah - Kameron Kelly finds his first career interception, but Minkah Fitpatrick was the real hero on the play. The Steelers stopped the Ravens on third down when Jackson was going to his favorite target - Mark Andrews.
The offense did what they could, but needed to get into the endzone with such a good opportunity. The defense will need to hold the Ravens' offense once more before Pittsburgh is able to try and tie this game. Something they won't do if they continue to run the wildcat.
0:03 - Chris Boswell made 29-yard field goal
- Ravens 17 | Steelers 13
Noah - Mike Hilton picks up the Steelers' second interception of the afternoon. The defense is clicking on all cylinders and is holding this game together for Pittsburgh.
Mason Rudolph is loosening up, but his accuracy deep is struggling. That's fine - the Steelers need to let him grow in that aspect of his game. It might lead to a few missed plays, but the more comfortable he gets, the better this offense will become.
Heading into Halftime, this game is being controlled by the Steelers' defense.
Third Quarter
3:43 - James Conner 1-yard rush
- Ravens 17 | Steelers 20
Noah - First off, everyone should be hoping for a full recovery of Mason Rudolph. This Steelers' team has jumped behind him since day one, and watching him go down like that had everyone emotional.
The offense finally got clicking behind Delvin Hodges. After the Devin Bush interception, this team turned a terrifying injury into a game-leading drive.
James Conner is running well through the tackles, the Steelers have removed the wildcat, for now, and Hodges is making throws. Even with a third-string quarterback, Pittsburgh is in control of this game.
Fourth Quarter
11:39 - Justin Tucker made 26-yard field goal
Noah - After driving down the field for a touchdown, the Steelers' defense came back strong. Lamar Jackson can make incredible moves on the ground, and the defense saw it once again on this drive.
They're playing well today. No complaints, even on a drive that led to a field goal. It's on the offense, though. If the Steelers want to win this game, they need to score, again.
2:41 - Chris Boswell made 33-yard field goal
Noah - Delvin Hodges is leading the Steelers offense in a way no one expected. The defense looks unstoppable right now, and with a little over two minutes remaining, Pittsburgh is in control of their future.
A three-point lead isn't a guaranteed win, but the defense gives us enough faith that they can hold Baltimore. This is going to be as exciting of an ending as any Steelers-Ravens matchup we've seen.
0:10 - Justin Tucker made 48-yard field goal
Noah - Justin Tucker ties it up and the Steelers are headed to Overtime. This couldn't be any better of an AFC North showdown. These two teams will battle it out, and if this game is going to be won by Pittsburgh, it's going to come through Duck Hodges.
Pittsburgh's defense has gotten them this far, now it's time for the offense to finish the job. Play it safe but work your offense efficiently - but not conservative.
Overtime
5:26 - Justin Tucker made 46-yard field goal
Noah - The Steelers defense did everything they could to win this game, but the offense couldn't do enough to hand them the win. The Steelers couldn't catch a break, and JuJu Smith-Schuster's fumble sealed the fate of Pittsburgh's Week 5 outcome.
Final Thoughts
The Steelers move to 1-4 on the season and the future isn't looking bright. At this point, the offense could be down to their third string quarterback for next week against the Chargers. If they don't pick up some serious offensive momentum week-to-week, they won't find success this season.
The good thing that come from this game was the defense. From start to finish, they looked like the group of players Pittsburgh has been waiting for. The gameplan was successful, the players were making plays and, for the most part, they controlled the game.
No matter who the quarterback is in Week 6, the Steelers need to improve offensively. They can build from this loss, but turning this season around isn't going to be easy.
