NFL Analyst Blasts Steelers RBs
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to be a run-heavy team this season after bringing in new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. But not everyone is convinced they have the talent to be success in doing so.
NFL analyst Nick Wright didn't hold back when discussing his thoughts on the Steelers running back room. During an episode of First Things First, Wright said neither Najee Harris nor Jaylen Warren are as good as perseived, and that the Steelers don't have as dominant of a running game as it appears.
"The Steelers do not have good weapons," Wright said. "I think Najee is below average, flatly. I think Jaylen Warren, every team’s got a Jaylen Warren, a guy who, if you can get six carries a game, looks dynamic. If you are in today’s game do not have a Jaylen Warren, what are you doing? Their wide receivers, they have that is talented a total malcontent. In that, do they have the worst weapons? Obviously."
Harris has had three 1,000-yard seasons to start his career and Warren became a significant part of Pittsburgh's offense over the last two seasons. This year, with Harris entering his fourth season and Warren his third, they're viewed as the top contributors to the Steelers' offense.
When it comes to their receiving core, which Wright also criticized, they're expected to add another name alongside George Pickens through the NFL Draft. While trade conversations have dimmed, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that they pull one off before the draft.
