Steelers Bring in Former Commanders LB
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted free agent linebacker and former Washington Commander Khaleke Hudson for a visit, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.
Hudson, 26, was a fifth-round pick for Washington in 2020 out of Michigan. He played high school football locally at McKeesport, likely giving the Steelers a long history of knowledge about him. In four years in the NFL, all with the Commanders, he's played in 58 games, including 12 starts, and recorded 108 tackles, seven tackles for loss and a sack.
Hudson made the transition from safety to inside linebacker last season, eventually starting eight games for the Commanders on the inside. He recorded 74 tackles in his first full season at the position.
The Steelers currently have Patrick Queen, Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts and Mark Robinson on the roster, but right now, there's uncertainty when Holcomb will return from his ACL injury. So, the team is doing their homework on other options.
They've looked at prospects in the NFL Draft, meeting with several at the NFL Combine. They're now looking at free agent options for added depth, just in case they need to add another name to their 90-man roster.
