Steelers Get Estimated Contract for Odell Beckham Jr.
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to add to their wide receiver room, and former Baltimore Ravens' Odell Beckham Jr. has been named a fit, if the team wishes to pursue him.
But what would it cost?
Pro Football Focus, who ranks Beckham as the 71st-best free agent this offseason, estimates his next contract as one-year, $7 million.
The Steelers currently have around $14 million in salary cap space available to spend. That number doesn't include the contract of Van Jefferson, but without knowing the exact number, it's tough to imagine that deal is worth a significant amount of money.
While Beckham would add some splash to the Steelers' wide receiver room, his productivity might not add up to what they're looking for. At 31-years-old, he's coming off a 565-yard season with the Ravens. If signed, he may only be viewed as a backup to George Pickens and whomever else the team added this offseason.
Pittsburgh is looking at a possible trade for San Francisco 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk, and have scouted almost all of the top wide receivers in the NFL Draft. If they do go with a veteran, Beckham could be an option - and at $7 million, he's not out of the conversation.
