Steelers' Hines Ward Joins ASU Coaching Staff
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers legend Hines Ward is headed to the college coaching level, accepting a job to join Arizona State as their next wide receivers coach, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Ward has been in talks with Arizona State for roughly a week and is now heading back to the college ranks to work with wideouts. His last college job was as the wide receivers coach at Florida Atlantic University.
The Steelers legend continues to add to his coaching resume. To this point in his career, he's worked at FAU, as an offensive assistant for the New York Jets and as a head coach for the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas.
Ward spent all 15 of his NFL playing years in Pittsburgh, embedding himself as one of the greatest pass-catchers in Steelers history. With two Super Bowl rings and a Super Bowl MVP on his resume, Ward finished his career with 1,000 receptions, 12,083 yards and 85 touchdowns.
The all-time great is still waiting for his name to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but as he waits for Canton, he'll head to Arizona State to continue adding to his football legacy.
