Steelers' Justin Fields Working With Chase Claypool
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields linked up with a former teammate and former Steelers wide receiver during his offseason workouts. Meeting up in South Florida, Fields and former second-round pick Chase Claypool joined up to work out together as they prepare for the season.
Fields and Claypool spent the end of the 2022 and beginning of the 2023 seasons together in Chicago after Pittsburgh trade the wideout. He played in 10 games for the Bears, catching 18 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown.
Eventually, the Bears traded him to the Miami Dolphins.
Fields is set to compete with Russell Wilson for the starting job in Pittsburgh this offseason, but he'll start as the backup. Despite the team being open to either quarterback as their Week 1 starter, they prefer Wilson, and will give him "pole position" in the QB battle.
As for Claypool, he's looking for an NFL home this season. Recently, he was added to the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ exclusive negotiation list, allowing him to join the CFL this upcoming season. As a British Columbia native, he could make heading to Canada an option if he doesn't land on a roster in 2024.
