Steelers Named Landing Spot for Cowboys QB
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have two veteran quarterbacks on their roster this season, but there's no guarantee either one is part of their team next year. If they aren't, one NFL analyst has an idea of how they can fill the position.
Rich Eisen said on his show that if the Steelers don't have a quarterback they feel confident in after this season, why not go sign Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott?
"What happens if they guy they went ahead and gave pole position doesn’t work out? What if they get a look at Justin Fields and say he’s not the guy," Eisen said. "Maybe the Steelers are all in. Right now their offense costs nothing. I don’t even think it’s $15 million. They’ll have the money to give Dak a multiple of that. I think the Steelers might be in on Dak and let him finish his career in Pittsburgh."
As of right now, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will have some competition for the starting job, but head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Wilson will start in "pole position."
Wilson signed a one-year, $1.2 million deal with the Steelers while Fields is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Pittsburgh now expected to pick up his fifth-year option.
As for Prescott, he's entering the final year of his contract and it's no guarantee the team is going to sign him to a new one before he hits the market. He's 73-41 as a starter in the NFL, throwing for 202 touchdowns and 29,459 yards.
