Steelers Legend Begins Coaching Career
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller has spent the almost decade since his retirement away from football but he will step back onto the gridiron this season as a coach.
Miller, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, all with the Steelers, will be the acting head coach at St. Anne's-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia this season. The school is located across the street from where he played college football at the University of Virginia and a four-hour drive from his hometown of Richlands, Virginia. All four of Miller's kids attend St. Anne's-Belfield.
“I’m looking forward to leading the Saints Football program for the 2024 season," Miller said in a release from the school. "It’s my goal to field a team that models the proper values on the field and off.”
Miller was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Steelers and proceeded to make two Pro Bowl appearances and start for two Super Bowl-winning teams in 2005 and 2008. He ended his career with more than 6,500 receiving yards (Miller ranks 15th all-time among tight ends) and 45 receiving touchdowns (21st all-time among tight ends).
Now he's taking on the new task of leading a team from the sidelines.
