PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers got some pretty huge news about one of their top NFL Draft prospects. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean sent a letter to all 32 teams, informing them that he is now cleared to partake in football activities and has scheduled a workout for anyone who chooses to attend.

DeJean broke his fibula late in the 2023 season, leaving question as to when he'd be cleared to return to the field. With the draft being less than a month away, his stock was all over the place, with a range anywhere from the first cornerback taken to the end of the first round.

He's now set to hold a workout on April 8 at Iowa, where he will perform all on-field testing and positional drills for scouts and coaches.

The Steelers have had interest in DeJean throughout the NFL Draft process and could certainly view him as a first-round pick if he does make it to pick No. 20. Pittsburgh likely wouldn't pass up the opportunity to solidify their cornerback room with DeJean, Joey Porter Jr. and Donte Jackson in 2024.

Expect the team to have scouts there and possibly come position coaches. Depending on what their schedule looks like at the time, head coach Mike Tomlin could also be in attendance for DeJean's workout.
