PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers can remove one name from their list of potential trade candidates as the Buffalo Bills send wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in exchange for NFL Draft compensation.

Diggs was rumored to be on the trade block all offseason, which made him an interesting name to watch for the Steelers. Pittsburgh has reportedly "explored" the wide receiver trade market in recent weeks, with speculation that Diggs was a name that could be on their radar.

While the connection was not as strong to that of San Francisco 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk, it was certainly a name being discussed amongst media and fans.

The Steelers are currently operating with George Pickens as their No. 1 wideout, with Calvin Austin, Quez Watkins, Van Jefferson, and Cordarrelle Patterson as the backups. They've done their homework on NFL Draft prospects at the position, which may be their best option at this point in the offseason.

While an Aiyuk trade isn't out of the realm of possibilities, it does appear unlikely as San Francisco general manager John Lynch made it known the team was trying to extend him. So, it appears the options Pittsburgh once had have vanished, with Aiyuk sticking with the 49ers and Diggs heading to Houston.
