PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will be staying stateside for the forseeable future despite efforts from the NFL to expand it's reach internationally.

Steelers part owner and team president Art Rooney said at the NFL Meetings in Orlando, Florida this week that he doesn't anticipate his team playing overseas this coming season but that they should be slated for international travel in the near future.

"As we stand today, we don't think we're going to have one in 2024, but soon," Rooney told local reports.

Rooney emphasized that, as the NFL expands it's reach into new markets like Germany, Brazil and Mexico, that the Steelers would be excited to play in one of those new markets, but they will have to wait for that opportunity.

"We'd love to play a game in all those places. Not sure how quickly that could happen and so it will be a while before we get to all of them," Rooney said. "But we'd love to play games in the markets where we have that opportunity."
