Everything You Need to Know About Steelers Playoff Game
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are headed to postseason and are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round. With some key injuries, practice squad contributions and a consistent quarterback debate, there's plenty to know before the black and gold travel to Orchard Park for their postseason run.
The Steelers, who sit as the 7th seed in the AFC, will travel to Buffalo on Sunday, January 12 for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Unless something drastic happens, the expectation is that Mason Rudolph will continue to ride as this team's quarterback, leading them into the Wild Card round after three successful games.
As for the injuries, the Steelers will monitor three big ones. Outside linebacker T.J. Watt is dealing with a grade 2 MCL sprain, leaving his availability in question. Rigth now, the belief is he'll need multiple weeks to rest and recover. He'll likely speak on the situation later in the week.
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick vowed to return to the field from a knee injury if the Steelers made the postseason. Well, they're in, and if you're taking his word, he'll be back on the field in Buffalo.
Trenton Thompson will also look to return after missing several weeks with a neck injury. However, the Steelers will look to add another safety to their active roster that could push Thompson down the depth chart.
After three impressive weeks, Eric Rowe and Myles Jack are likely going to be signed to the 53-man roster in time for the postseason. Both have started the last three games and have made significant contributions. The Steelers will need to sign them to the active roster in order for them to continue playing, but both moves are expected this week.
