Steelers New Coach Has Makings of NFL Offensive Coordinator

The Pittsburgh Steelers newest offensive coach has potential, but will he ever replace Matt Canada?
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- Adding an offensive assistant coach appeared to be a nice surprise to the Pittsburgh Steelers fan base, but the addition of Glenn Thomas brings questions.

After two rough years with Matt Canada as the offensive coordinator, there's continued speculation about how much longer the Steelers will keep him on the staff. He's set to be the OC in 2023, and shouldn't be expected to be fired during the season.

However, reports claim that his contract expires after the 2023 season. Pittsburgh will have one year to evaluate Thomas at that point, and many are wondering if that's the doorway the Steelers will use to make a change at offensive coordinator.

As for whether or not Thomas is actually an offensive coordinator-quality coach, we'll have to wait and see. But the Steelers did something they haven't done in a long time with a coaching hire. And if you look at the successful OCs in the NFL, Glenn Thomas has one glowing similarity.
