Steelers Can't Make Second Wrong Call at QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers have to be cautious, but they can't make two easy calls this offseason and get away with it.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to spend a good bit of time trying to figure out their backup quarterback situation, and while it seems like an unimportant position of need, it's the complete opposite.

The Steelers saw first-hand what a backup quarterback could do for a team this season. They also saw how a backup quarterback could hurt their team this season. And in 2023, with no real stamp on Kenny Pickett's ability or his reliability health-wise, Pittsburgh cannot just choose anyone to be their backup quarterback.

As of now, they're sticking with Mitch Trubisky. Because of his $10 million cap hit, though, it feels more likely that he's going to find himself on the open market, and the Steelers will look elsewhere for their No. 2.

There's been another name floated around that could be considered by the Steelers. Then, there's the NFL Draft and the plenty of options within it.

The Steelers can find themselves with the right group of QBs this season. They have to, because the backup quarterback role is a lot bigger than it appears on paper.
