C.J. Stroud, Tank Dell and Texans Dominate Jaguars
It was only a matter of time before DeMeco Ryans got his first win as the Houston Texans head coach.
And on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, that is exactly what happened with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud leading the Texans to their first victory of the year with a 37-17 win over the Jaguars.
Things got started early for Houston, with Stroud hitting fellow rookie Tank Dell for a 46-yard bomb down to the one-yard line, which was immediately followed by a Dameon Pierce score to put the Texans on top.
Not long after that, the route was on, with Stroud hitting Brevin Jordan for his first passing touchdown of the day to make the score 14-0.
And after the Texans took a 17-0 lead into the locker room, things seemed in hand.
However, the Jaguars quickly responded and got back into the game, scoring 10 unanswered points, cutting the Houston lead to seven.
And after that, the Texans responded in kind, outscoring Jacksonville 20-7 for the remainder of the game, and moving to 1-2 for the season.
Stroud, meanwhile, finished with his third consecutive impressive performance, completing 20 of 30 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns - the latter of which came on a game-sealing 68-yard touchdown to Dell.
Dell finished the day with an impressive performance of his own, catching five passes for 145 yards and the score.
Following the win, the Texans will look to build on their momentum from Sunday, as they head back home to Houston to host the Pittsburgh Steelers at NRG Stadium
