Panthers Request Interview With Texans Coach Bobby Slowik
Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik had a fantastic year in his first season with the franchise, helping to lead the team to an AFC South title and a playoff spot.
In fact, in his first season in Houston - with a rookie at QB in C.J. Stroud - Slowik created an offense that currently sits ranked 12th in total offense, seventh in passing offense, and in the top half of the league in scoring offense.
Now, it appears that the Carolina Panthers are intent on finding out if Slowik can do the same thing for their young quarterback Bryce Young as he did for Stroud in 2023.
According to multiple reports, the Panthers have requested permission to interview Slowik for their vacant head coaching position.
Under Slowik, Stroud has been in truly elite company during his rookie season, Throwing for 4,108 yards on 63.9 percent passing, with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions - doing so despite missing two and a half games with a concussion.
Stroud also finished third all-time in passing yards for a rookie quarterback, a record he fell just 267 yards short of and that he surely would have obtained had he stayed healthy.

Not only that, but Stroud became just the third quarterback in NFL history to lead the NFL in both passing yards per game and touchdown to interception ratio in a single season, joining Tom Brady and Joe Montana - all of which came under Slowik's tutelage and within his offense.
The Panthers have also requested interviews with eight other candidates, including Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quin, Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, and Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales.
