Texans Predicted to Sign Chiefs Superstar Free Agent Chris Jones

Pro Football Network projects Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones to sign with the Houston Texans in Free Agency.

As the NFL free agency period draws near, excitement mounts with the legal tampering period set to begin on March 11, followed by the official start on March 13. With teams poised for roster upgrades, Pro Football Network examined the top free agents and projects a potential acquisition for the Houston Texans.

With C.J. Stroud orchestrating the offense, backed by a promising arsenal of young talent and a solid offensive line, the Texans are poised for success with more than $60 million in cap space.

Now, attention turns to fortifying their defense, and DeMeco Ryans has his sights on a top-tier free agent.

Enter Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones, a defensive dynamo boasting an impressive 26 sacks over the past two seasons. Despite enduring double-teams more than any other defensive tackle, Jones still managed to tie for the league lead in pass rush win rate among his peers in 2023 (20 percent).

Seeking a lucrative final contract, Jones presents an enticing opportunity for the Texans. That said, it doesn't appear he is ready to part ways with the Chiefs.

During the 2022 season, Jones recorded 44 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, four passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In the subsequent season, he tallied 30 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and four passes defended.

Finding a way to acquire Jones would be a major asset to the Texans' 2024 roster.

Is Saquon Barkley Hinting At Texans' Future?

With Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., the reigning Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year, under cost-effective deals,

Houston has the financial flexibility to pursue Jones while also retaining defensive end Jonathan Greenard. Such a move could potentially assemble one of the most imposing defensive fronts in the league, positioning the Texans as serious contenders.
