Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson Injury Status: NFL's Biggest 'Maybe'?
Just as was the case during his time with the Houston Texans, Deshaun Watson was supposed to be "the answer'' - and of course, to his credit, for a time, he was.
Watson has since taken his talents to the Cleveland Browns as a result of a blockbuster trade paired with a massive contract ... and the Browns enter Week 7 of his second season in Cleveland ...
And the Browns are still waiting on the deliver of those answers.
Watson has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury - a situation that at least for a time was shrouded in some mystery. ... which is nothing new with Deshaun, of course.
Watson was back in practice this week, at least kind of. But is he healthy enough to play against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday?
The answer? Once again - in a game that has some ramifications in the race for AFC playoff berths - seems to be "maybe."
The Browns are officially listing Watson as "questionable" for Sunday's game against the Colts after having won a shocker in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers with quarterback P.J. Walker playing QB.
Why does this matter in the AFC? And why does it matter to the Texans?
The Browns, even with Watson's iffy status, are 3-2 on the season and just one game behind the rival Baltimore Ravens for the top spot in the AFC North. The Browns could vault into first place this weekend.
Can Houston's DeMeco Ryans Win Coach of the Year?
Meanwhile, the Colts are 3-3 and trying to remain competitive in the AFC South even though rookie QB sensation Anthony Richardson is out for the year. And the Colts' competition in the South? That includes the Texans, who, led by rookie coach DeMeco Ryans and another first-year QB success in C.J Stroud, are on a bye at 3-3.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are 5-2 and seem like the class of the division. But the chase behind them can be on ... and the Texans have a reason to keep an eye on Watson (or not) vs. the Colts for that very reason.
