Could Texans Sign Two Running Backs in Free Agency?
The Houston Texans are set to be one of the more active teams in the NFL in free agency this offseason and have already been connected to multiple star players, including a running back, where the team has a major need.
Among those players, is New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley, who is set to command nearly three years and $37 million ($12.3 million) for his next contract.
However, according to a report from KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson, instead of throwing all of their chips into one basket for a big-money running back, the Texans could take a different route.
Per Wilson, the Texans not only have a desire to bring back Devin Singletary - who led the team in rushing last season - but could also eye a second free agent running back such as Eagles running back D'Andre Swift or Cowboys back Tony Pollard.
"The Texans are expected to explore scenarios where they sign more than one running back, per sources, perhaps rather than spend money on just one free agent runner like New York Giants star Saquon Barkley," said Wilson. "That could involve signing Singletary along with another free agent, perhaps the Philadelphia Eagles’ D’Andre Swift or the Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Pollard, all depending on price."

As it stands, Swift's next contract is projected to be around four years and $22 million, coming out to $5.5 million per year. Meanwhile, Pollard's contract is currently projected to be for three years and $22 million ($7.3 million APY).
Fortunately for the Texans, they will have plenty of flexibility either way, with nearly $70 million in cap space heading into the free agency period later this month.
