'Looking Forward to the Future!' Texans Coach DeMeco Ryans Shares Message Following Playoff Loss
Saturday did not go well for the Houston Texans, falling to the Baltimore Ravens 34-10 in the Divisional Round of the postseason, but that doesn't dim the future for the organization.
After the game on Saturday, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans shared his analysis of the loss and gave a large amount of credit to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
“Credit to Lamar [Jackson]," Ryans said. "He made a ton of great plays, probably, that’s why he’s the MVP. He made a ton of great plays. We didn’t make plays. It’s what it all comes down to.”
The Texans had not seen a playoff berth since 2019, so coming away with a division title and a postseason win put the organization way ahead of schedule entering 2024. Still, there are no moral victories in the NFL, but Ryans is proud of what he and his young roster accomplished this year.
What Are Texans Top Free Agency Concerns This Offseason?
“I’m proud of our guys for their effort, being relentless throughout this entire season,” Ryans said, “[I’m] proud of them for getting to this moment. It’s not a moral victory of just being here, and it’s not what we set out to do, but [I’m] proud of our team. This team accomplished a lot this year and is looking forward to the future.”
The Texans failed to produce much momentum on Saturday, and they were unable to find the end zone on offense for the entirety of the game.
But Houston returns a ton of young talent in 2024, namely rookies like quarterback C.J. Stroud, who make this future worth looking forward to.
