Former Houston Texans cornerback Shareece Wright is joining the lawsuit against Colton Joint Unified School District and former athletic trainer Tiffany Strauss-Gordon.

Wright, along with 11 other plaintiffs, is suing Strauss-Gordon for sexual assault dating back to the early 2000s.

Wright hopes the lawsuit will help bring justice and continue the country’s fight against sexual abuse.

“The less it’s kept a secret, the harder it is for it to continue to happen,” Wright told ESPN.

Strauss-Gordon is the daughter of former Colton football coach Harold Strauss. According to Wright, Strauss-Gordon abused him during treatment sessions, performing oral sex on him and touching him inappropriately. Wright was 15 when the abuse occurred; Strauss-Gordon was 21

As emphasized by Wright’s attorney, Morgan Stewart, her father’s position may have affected what happened.

“You’ve got football, you’ve got the coach’s daughter, you’ve got a permissive school environment where it’s allowed to happen,” Steward said. “I mean, you’ve got sort of a perfect storm of sexual abuse that could be covered up easily.”

In 2022, Strauss-Gordon said she felt the lawsuits filed against her were, “For money.”

Having grown up in San Bernardino, Wright would eventually be drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the hometown San Diego Chargers. He spent four seasons there before splitting the next two with the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. After a one-year stint with the Buffalo Bills in 2017, Wright was briefly a member of the then-Oakland Raiders.
