HOUSTON — The 2023 season was a dream year for the Houston Texans. For a team projected to win six games at best, the Texans advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs following a 10-7 regular season record.

Exceeding low expectations has left several great memories for coach DeMeco Ryans in his first season in Houston. But there are some moments that stood out more than others.

"I think the one that sticks out – probably the Tampa Bay game sticks out the most. To see us be able to come back and see the plays that we were able to make in that game to win that game – that’s one that really sticks out to me. There’s a lot of moments."

Houston's 39-37 comeback victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 12 was one of several one-score victories of the season.

C.J. Stroud set a record for most passing yards by a rookie quarterback with 470 yards while completing 30-of-42 attempts. He also threw five touchdowns without tossing an interception. With 46 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Stroud led the Texans on a 75-yard drive that ended with a game-winning touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Tank Dell.

However, Houston's comeback win against the Buccaneers wasn't the only moment that stood out to Ryans.

In the game where the Texans clinched their first postseason appearance since 2019, the Texans' Week 18 victory against the Indianapolis Colts was another highlight for Ryans amid his first year at the helm in Houston.

"I can’t give them all [to you]. I think none [were more] special than the win at the end of the year vs. Indianapolis when we were able to clinch our spot into the playoffs. That’s one that I’ll always remember, and it’s a significant moment for our team and where we were at the time, so a very special moment there.”
